While You’re At Work

Amanda has been pulling the weight and is “bringing home the bacon”. Given the rough economic times, the company that her husband Barry has worked for the past 15 years had finally laid him off just a few months ago. Barry has been applying for jobs anywhere he can. He has been taking advantage of the time he has had off by going to the gun range with his father, and doing little projects for him here and there. It’s been a good opportunity to spend some time with his retired dad. Luckily for them they don’t have any children so they have been getting by. Read More…

Appreciation Of Sound

Most of the world is mourning the loss and is still in absolute shock over the death of a legendary singer. Those of us who have appreciated his music at some point in our life can all be grateful to have been able to enjoy hearing his ever famous songs as some in this world never have and will never know. I am mentioning this because July is right around the corner, and it happens to be hearing awareness month. Read More…

Chinese Anyone?

Well, hopefully everyone who is a father had a really nice, relaxing Father’s Day weekend. I’m sure many dad’s were taken out for dinner. We used to take my father out for dinner the day before or around Father’s Day as it was always so busy everywhere, and we just didn’t have patience to wait around too long. My dad absolutely loved Chinese food (as I do), especially the crab rangoons, so we would always go to his favorite buffet. It’s fun to try a little bit of this and that. Read More…

Why Are They So Happy?

Britney has a friend named Trey that she calls her “drinking buddy”.  They’ve known each other for a few years.  One day they’re boyfriend and girlfriend and the next they aren’t.  Supposedly he had been unfaithful when they were, and have actually still kept a very good friendship after it all. Don’t Be Surprised

I just got back from the dentist today.  Since I have a sweet tooth, I had bit into a chewy candy and had half of my tooth come out in it!  What a surprise.  It was a molar on my right side.  Then when I tried eating on the left side, didn’t I chip another tooth!  The cost of having two crowns and a few other touch ups comes to a little over $2,000!  Ouch…double ouch!  It just so happens that I’m allergic to the epinephrine they normally use to numb the molars, so I had to ask for an extra shot three times.  After it was all done and my ibuprofen kicked in, I had a few errands to run. Father’s Day

My, how the days have just been flying on by. It seems like just yesterday it was New Years, and this month is already the first day of summer on June 21st. It’s my husband’s birthday, and it also happens to be Father’s Day all in one! The very first Father’s Day is said to have been held on July 5, 1908. They had a church service in Fairmont, West Virginia. It was held by Dr. Robert Webb of West Virginia at the Central United Methodist Church of Fairmont. In 1909, a Mrs. Sonora Smart Dodd from Washington made a tribute to her dad in June 19, 1910. She was the first to start the idea of having an official Father’s Day to honor all fathers. Read More…

Turkey Anyone?

Who said you have to wait until Thanksgiving or Christmas to cook a whole turkey? I was really in the mood for one, and after all, you’d think it would be a healthier thing to eat, so I made a little one this weekend. Come to find out my husband’s doctor said that eating a turkey leg is like having a couple of big greasy burgers. Well, I guess that’s always good to know! Read More…

Bulletproof

We were talking with a friend of ours a few days ago who told us about the most recent robberies that have been taking place in his neck of the woods.  He said that there is a group of robbers that have been wearing bullet proof vests while breaking into people’s homes.  They have been kicking in the front door, then one will run to the bedroom and hold the homeowners at gun point in their beds while the others rob them in the middle of the night. Being born an Army brat I especially couldn’t let Memorial Day go by without remembering those who served our country. Read More…

Bananas

I’m going to talk about bananas today! This is a fruit that I consume each and every day. I’ve been trying to watch my figure and eat healthy. I have been making “smoothies” to go along with breakfast or lunch to also help give me a little energy boost as I’ve been trying to cut back on my coffee addiction. You’d be surprised how easy they are to make, and they are so good! All you need is a blender! So if you were wondering what to do with your bananas when they get too ripe, other than throwing them away or making banana bread, this is a great solution. Read More…
